Sox 5, Jays 4: MVP

David Ortiz makes grown men cry. If this isn't the face (and the pointing finger) of an MVP then I don't know what is.

Ortiz

2 out of 3 against the Yankees wins it now. 2 out of 3 at Fenway. It was always going to be close, but this - this is the best pennant race I've seen since I actively followed baseball. 2004 ALCS stuff.

It was ever so. Say a prayer, cross your hearts, whatever rituals it takes you: this will be one hell of a series.

2 out of 3 against the Yankees wins it now.

Actually, 2 out 3 just ties it, sadly.

Either way, that was a great game. Let's build on this.

Yes, you're right, that's the last time I depend on the AP to tell me what 2-1 means. SoSH has a good summary

2-1 and Cleveland loses - Sox are in. 2-1 and Cleveland wins - playoff with NY and possibly with Cleveland.

this will def be one hell of a series. there's this new dvd i've been watching called city of champions best of boston sports showing all of last year's winnings. but i think this year is going to be better.
oh, the dvd is totally worth the money too. check it out at www.cityofchampionsdvd.com

This marks just about the year-mark of when our blogs collided. Take a deep breath, cross your fingers, and pray for the strains of 'Dirty Water.' And 'Hallelujah.' =)
